Happy New Year!

Hi again - and thanks for coming back after two weeks with no new posts! I almost entirely 'unplugged' - no blogging or social networking while I was on this vacation. I really needed to recharge the batteries, and since my company has a mandatory week off for everyone between Christmas and New Year, it was easy to disconnect.

However, I did get started on something and I have a mystery to solve about a piece I've been fiddling with recently.

Before I show it, here's the backstory - When my daughter was out with her friends, I got to watching some shows on Hulu and Netflix that I hadn't watched this season. To keep my hands occupied, I decided to fiddle with some German Wire I had pulled out and left on my desk.

I grabbed a pair of round nose pliers and started to make loops in the wire. After making three looped pieces (two long and one short) I got out some fine gauge gold artistic wire and did a few embellishments. Then I grabbed some white opal and clear crystal Swarovski beads to add a few dangles.

I put it aside for a bit to decide how I wanted to finish it. I've got a couple ideas, the little chain in the picture is temporary, so I could photograph it. But I also started to wonder, was this something I'd seen somewhere? I have this vague impression that I have, but after going through a number of my magazines and checking dozens of places on the web, I can't find anything. So the mystery is still unsolved: is this from my imagination or my memory?

If you've seen something that resembles this, please leave the link in comments so I'll know if I was being inspired and just can't remember from where.

I look forward to posting daily again and hope you'll all be back - regular features will return, plus I've got a stack of new books to review and new things I've bought that I'm going to try out and share, too! See you tomorrow.

Thank you Hilary - same to you and yours!

Tish - nope, no new direction, just one of those things that happened while I was fiddling around.

I'm glad to be back, missed you too!

I've seen asymmetrical designs in a few different magazines, but not like this. I love how elegant and contemporary (the loops are so fun!) it is. And I kind of like the look of the chain. Maybe something a little more substantial, chain-wise to finish it?

Anyhoo, very pretty, indeed.

Hi Ahtee! Thanks for dropping by! I agree about the chain, if I decide to go that way I'll definitely want something with a bit bigger links. I'm also thinking about a sheer silver-y ribbon.

Happy New Year Dawn, your break has obviously been good for you because that necklace is divine. I'm also back from 2 week holidays, but being away from home I was unable to do anything, I missed my tools!

Why thank you Davinia!

I know what you mean about missing your tools, etc., when you are away from home. I have duplicates of a lot of tools because I end up going to the bead store in whatever place I'm visiting and buying stuff there to work with!

I got a nifty little travel case (finally) for beading tools and keep it packed up and in my suitcase now. I throw in a couple baggies of other stuff and once I arrive, I can work on a project or two.
