Monday Miscellany - Valentine's Project #5

One of the things I've been trying to do for new projects this year* is use up what beads, etc., I already have. I've a lot of different types of red beads to chose from, including some cute ruby red flower beads, which I thought were great for a Valentine's project.

I decided to make a necklace with them and some matching pinched glass oval beads. So I got out the head pins, Beadalon Square Knot links and Beadalon Quick Links ovals (a great substitute for Valentine's Day would be the heart shaped links but I resisted the urge to order them):

The entire thing didn't take long to make, either. Just simple loops to connect all the pieces. I also made a matching pair of earrings.

These projects are a lot of fun - hope you try making some!

Don't forget, if you'd like to win a cute Valentine's Day bracelet, all it takes to be entered is a comment! Say "Enter me in the bracelet giveaway" on any post between now and the end of the month. If you're on Twitter and RT any of my tweets this month you'll get another entry. If you're a fan or become a fan of Dawno's on Facebook and leave a comment on any post there with "Enter me in the bracelet giveaway", you get another entry - so there's a total of 3 entries you can make towards the giveaway.

Random drawing will be held on January 31st - and if selected, you'll get the bracelet in plenty of time for Valentine's Day!

That's a lovely set Dawn. I was just over at Tish's blog and she was saying she doesn't use a lot of red in her work (me also, goes back to my childhood) but you've inspired me to give it a go. I can't keep making things in my favourite colours (green) all the time now can I.

Thank you so much Davinia! One of the reasons I have so many red beads is that I kept buying them and not making anything much...it's not my favorite color, either. I'm so happy to have been a source of inspiration!
