Valentine's Day Idea #9 - Does a Valentine Heart Have to be Red?

Only 30 days until Valentine's Day!

Maybe...maybe not. This one, at least, is blue. Not in the "I'm blue about you" way, but made from sodalite.

It's still a work in progress - I need to figure out how I'm going to attach the heart to the necklace. Right now it's just looped on using a lark's head - and although the medium Soft Touch beading wire is great for stringing, I'm not quite sure it makes the right impression as a bail...

Anyway, I'd appreciate any suggestions on the bail - I'm trying not to buy new materials, so perhaps someone has a link to how to make a wire one - I've got plenty of wire.

Also, if you're interested in knowing about the properties of sodalite, you can check out the listing at the Rings & Things Gemstone Index.

Don't forget, if you'd like to win a cute Valentine's Day bracelet, all it takes to be entered is a comment! Say "Enter me in the bracelet giveaway" on any post between now and the end of the month. If you're on Twitter and RT any of my tweets this month you'll get another entry. If you're a fan or become a fan of Dawno's on Facebook and leave a comment on any post there with "Enter me in the bracelet giveaway", you get another entry - so there's a total of 3 entries you can make towards the giveaway.

Random drawing will be held on January 31st - and if selected, you'll get the bracelet in plenty of time for Valentine's Day!

is easy peasy to make a wire wrapped bail. make a wire wrapped loop. leave a tail of about 5 inches or so. put the wire wrap at the top of the heart, and push the tail thru the hole. make several wraps thru the hole of the heart and with the remainder of the tail, wrap it around the original wire wrap at the top.

or...

you can make a bail with seed beads. string a complimentary color to the middle of your string wire. string enuff to allow it to make a loop big enuff to go around the top of the hole in the heart. push one end of the wire thru the hole of the heart and bring both ends of the wire together. slide a complimentary bead, silver or something ornate over both of the wires down to the group of seed beads. that will make your bail :)
you can string your design on top of that
