Exciting News! Steampunk and Soft Flex "Flex Your Creativity Contest" Together!

Just out from SoftFlexGirl's blog: Soft Flex Company is having another Flex Your Creativity Contest! This time the focus is on creating Steampunk-style work with Soft Flex beading wire. I love Steampunk, so I'm really excited about entering. Contest entries must be received by September 1, 2010, winners will be announced on December 1st.

Soft Flex Company presents the Flex Your Creativity Beading Contest

Want to learn more about Steampunk?

I did a whole post about it here, and here are some Stemampunk styles I've worked on:

M is for Moments (sold this at LosCon in November '09)

Ring

Pendant (changed a bit and sold at BayCon '09)

charms (at the bottom of the post)

Other Steampunk sites on the web:

Steampunk Workshop
Steampunk Lab

Steampunk themed comic (one of my favorites) Girl Genius

Melanie from Earthenwood Studios has done some great Steampunk work and has great Steampunk themed components and focals for sale.

Here's a necklace I made from one of her "Toolbox Treasures" focals.

Hope you enter - can't wait to see what you do!

I love your steampunk jewelry! What techniques do you use to bring the components together. I love the steampunk style but don't even know if I have the skills necessary to work in it.

Thank you Beadativity! As for techniques, mostly it's "using glue" (G-S hypo cement and E6000)but some wire wrap, too. It doesn't take so much skill as patience with tiny fiddly bits!
